The 90th Anniversary Thanksgiving Mass was held on 8th October during a torrential downpour that could not dampen the spirits of all who attended. The mass was celebrated by two Old Boy priests, Rev. Fr. Edward Khong and Rev. Fr. Dominic Lui and guests included members of the IMC, Brothers, teachers and students.
The mass was held in the School Hall where 12 brightly coloured banners adorned the walls, standing in stark contrast to the grey weather outside. In his introduction, Brother Thomas dedicated the mass to Saint La Salle and revealed that the banners depicted the story of the founder’s life. The topic of Fr. Khong’s homily was the School Crest which was a fitting topic for the occasion. He provided the congregation with a clear explanation of each element of the crest, in particular the Radiant Star and the school’s Latin Motto Fides et Opera and gave the students a deeper insight into the design of the badge worn on their ties.
The mass doubled as the opening mass of the new school year and the congregation was introduced to the Committee Members of the Catholic Society 2021-2022. Fr. Dominic blessed the CATSO committee members and our principal, Mr Tong, conferred badges on them. Following that, Mr Tong expressed the school’s appreciation to both Fr. Khong and Fr. Dominic for celebrating the mass for us and Br. Thomas presented souvenirs of thanks. The 90th Anniversary Thanksgiving Mass came to a close with the singing of “Glory and Praise to our God” followed by the Student Association committee leading the congregation in a heartfelt rendition of the School Song.
